Just a few kilometers from Turin lies a hidden forest of majestic trees and wild vines that seems straight out of an adventure book. It was right here that Emilio Salgari found the inspiration to bring his famous Sandokan to life. This day-long excursion will guide you into the green heart of the region, which evokes Salgari’s forests, revealing the tribute that the town of Alpette has dedicated to the writer’s legacy.
We’ll meet at 10:00 a.m., and we’re scheduled to return around 4:30 p.m. For lunch, you can choose between a classic packed picnic or, upon request, a refreshing stop at a local trattoria to discover traditional Piedmontese cuisine. At the end of the hike, there will also be an opportunity to visit the charming Copper Museum.
The trail is about 6 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 350 meters, reaching a maximum altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level. The route is of moderate difficulty, ideal for hikers who are moderately fit and in good health. We recommend dressing in layers according to the day’s weather and bringing hiking poles and a good supply of water.
