Of importance not only architectural but also religious are the resorts of Albugnano with its magnificentAbbey of Vezzolano, romanesque church dating from the Middle Ages and Castelnuovo Don Bosco, the birthplace of St. John Bosco, where you can visit his birthplace and the sanctuary dedicated to him. Throughout the province, especially in the autumn you can count numerous fairs and festivals including definitely stand out those dedicated to the truffle, the main places are Moncalvo, Montechiaro, Montiglio and Asti. Also in Asti in September, usually the week before the Palio, takes place the Douja d’Or, wine competition at the national level that becomes a showcase of regional products to the whole world.
