The culinary tradition of Lecco is characterized by simple dishes influenced by three different food cultures: the lake, the mountains and plains. As for the lake, typical dishes are missoltini: the shad (fish similar to herring) that immediately after fishing are passed in salt and dried in the sun for five days, and the risotto with perch fillets, flat Traditional of Lario Lake. In the Brianza area is the excellent “rustisciada”, typical dish made with pork loin and browned sausage with onions. Very good are also rabbit to “brianzola” and beef to California, as well as classics like “verzata”, the polenta and birds, cotecotti with beans. Finally, in the mountainous area dominated the famous polenta, “taragna” or “vuncia” enjoyed together with game or platters of cheese. Among the desserts there is “miascia”, made of flour with yellow raisins, locally produced honey and dried fruit, and cookies “caviadini”. The best wines come from the hills of Montevecchia.
