Monti Sibil-lini National Park is a protected area that protects the massif of the Sibillini Mountains and extends between the regions of Marche and Umbria, falling in four provinces: Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, Macerata and Perugia. It is characterized by typical limestone area of the Apennines that gradually take on demanding stretches and steep mountainous terrain and is set for an area of about 71,000 hectares. The valley bottoms of rivers and streams are divided into narrow Gorges (like the evocative “Infernaccio Gorges”), cre-ated by the telluric and erosion activities. Higher up there are many forests, mainly beech. The western side slopes gen-tly toward the Umbria with a further series of high-altitude depressions, as the famous Castelluccio. In the territory of the park are born rivers as Aso, Tenna and Fiastrone, which flow into the Adriatic Sea. The river Black develops on the Tyrrhenian basin. There are numerous legends that characterize the stories of the park, that along with an almost lunar landscape, guar-antee a journey not to be missed.
