What to do and see in Lecco

what-to-do-and-see-in-lecco

Lecco has grown rapidly since the eighteenth century with the Industrial Revolution, becoming one of the most important Italian industrial centers. The city is closely linked to the places Manzoni, including Villa Manzoni, summer home of the writer and the city museum, the district Pescarenico where there is the convent where lived the character of Brother Christopher, the neighborhoods of Olate and Acquate with the Lucia’s house, the church of Don Abbondio and the palace of Don Rodrigo. Along Lake Como there are pretty towns like Varenna, situated on a promontory from which to enjoy the great view, at the base of Mount San Defendente, where you can admire Villa Monastery, built on an old monastery; Vezio, a small town with its medieval castle; Dervio, with the church of Saints Quirico and Juliet, set in the oldest part of the country. Numerous are the Abbadie spread throughout the country, as the Abbadia Lariana, seat of the Silk Museum; Abbey Piona Colico, architectural gem and oasis of peace and spirituality situated on a promontory that descends on the lake; while, among the places of faith deserves a quote the Monastery of Santa Maria del Lavello Calolziocorte, a religious complex that still you can admire the convent, the cloisters and the church dating back to 1500.
