Calabria offer itself as the land of taste, which go far beyond the famous Calabrian chilli. As first dishes there are the pitta ‘ mpigliata, fusilli, pasta and potatoes, tijeddra, potatoes and pipareddre (peppers) fries, broccoli rabe and sausage, lagane ciciari ( wide noodles and chickpeas), fresh pasta with mushrooms. The fish dishes are the most popular: fried cod and spaghetti with anchovies and breadcrumbs fried. For dessert we recommend the sweets of St. Joseph , mostaccioli, cakes made with honey bees or figs, cooked must, flour and almonds. While, throughout the Christmas period we find turididdri, fried cakes coated with honey figs, and scaliddre, covered with icing sugar. Among the wines we mention the Donnici, white, red and rose wine and Pollino, not forgetting the famous licorice liqueur.
