The cuisine of the province of Agrigento is the classic fusion of what is produced from the earth with the one offering by the sea. Traditional dishes include “pasta with sardines“, the “pitaggio” made with beans, peas and artichokes, “alose in camicia” fish wrapped in puff pastry and baked and , at least, the inevitable “caponata“, a typical dish of Sicily. Surely the desserts are a very important element of the kitchen and especially the almond is one of the main elements. In Menfi we find the “cucchiafeddi” sweets prepared with almonds flavored with lemons from Sicily; In Favara during Holy Week is preparing the “paschal lamb” a sweet prepared using the traditional almonds paste stuffed with pistachio and then covered with icing sugar. Everywhere are the cassata and the classic cannoli. On the table can not certainly miss the wine of which the Sicily is a major producer; between the wines that have been awarded the DOC we indicate: the Contea di Sciafani DOC, the Menfi DOC , theSambuca di Sicilia DOC, the Santa Margherita di Belice DOC and the Sciacca DOC.
